Questions from schools

What schools need to know before choosing SKOLAMAT.

Clear answers about equipment, onboarding, records, access and ongoing support for primary and secondary schools.

Do we need special hardware?

No minimum specification beyond a modern browser — SKOLAMAT has been used from entry-level Android phones, shared cyber-café desktops and school-office laptops alike. A printer is only needed if the school hands out physical receipts and report cards; every document is also a downloadable PDF a parent can view on their own phone. A working internet connection is required for each session — there is no offline mode — but ordinary day-to-day use runs comfortably on a standard mobile connection.

What if staff are not confident with computers?

Onboarding runs as two separate remote sessions, not one generic walkthrough: administrators are trained on configuration and daily operations, teachers and the bursar on the tasks specific to their own role. The 14 days of launch support that follow are reachable the same way as everything else on this page — WhatsApp or a phone call — while staff work through real data. An in-product English and French manual stays available for reference afterward.

Can our school try SKOLAMAT first?

The 30-day trial runs on the school's actual current-year data, not a demo account with sample students, so what is evaluated is exactly what the school would use day to day — nothing entered during the trial is lost if the school subscribes afterward. A short setup call at the start of the trial defines what is imported and the onboarding boundary, so the 30 days begin from a working system rather than a blank one.

Are English and French both supported?

Every screen, notification, receipt and report card exists in both languages, and each user chooses English or French independently from their own account — a bilingual staff room can work side by side without affecting what colleagues or parents see. A report card is produced in whichever language the school's configuration specifies, consistent for every parent who receives it.

Can existing school records be brought in?

The onboarding discussion identifies the current-year records that can be imported within the agreed setup boundary. Historical or unusual data is assessed before commissioning.

Are school records separated and permissioned?

Isolation works at two levels. Across schools, nothing entered by one school — students, fees, marks, staff — is ever visible to another school on the platform, a boundary enforced on every request the system serves. Within a school, what a staff member can see depends on their role: a teacher sees their own subjects and classes, a bursar sees fee and payment records, and a guardian sees only the children explicitly linked to their account.

What can parents see?

Guardians can view released results, report cards, fee balances, receipts, attendance and announcements for children explicitly linked to their account.

What happens to our data if we don't renew?

The school moves to a short grace period, then read-only access — every record, report and export stays available to view and download; only new activity, such as new marks, payments or enrolments, stops until the subscription is renewed.

What happens after launch?

SKOLAMAT includes remote launch support and an in-product English and French manual. Subscription and support terms are confirmed in the school’s accepted agreement.
